Wi-Fi gratuit à Paris. SUPERBE!

July 17, 2007

… ADSL2+ is a technology which doubles the frequency band of a typical ADSL connection over a phone line, in effect doubling the amount of data which can be sent downstream to a user.

…”France was the first country in the western world to use the technology, about two or three years ago.

via BBC

I will miss France.

Also for Utata, I was asked to write a piece for their My Town series. So I did. I wrote about Tjörn, my island, here.”

Peace, Propaganda and The Promised Land

July 21, 2006

It’s a 2004 movie. (1hr) I haven’t had a chance to watch it all….. but I will.

Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land provides a striking comparison of U.S. and international media coverage of the crisis in the Middle East, zeroing in on how structural distortions in U.S. coverage have reinforced false perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This pivotal documentary exposes how the foreign policy interests of American political elites–oil, and a need to have a secure military base in the region, among others–work in combination with Israeli public relations strategies to exercise a powerful influence over how news from the region is reported.

Cheval au galop… marée du Mt St-Michel

June 5, 2006

"Sweden is to take the biggest energy step of any advanced western economy by trying to wean itself off oil completely within 15 years – without building a new generation of nuclear power stations."

Can Quebec even DREAM of accomplishing this …. with Harper as prime minister ?

Smog, heat and packing

June 13, 2005

My last couple of days here in Montréal before making the move to Paris. Can’t wait to get there. The smog covering the city is making it hard to do everything. I miss the air-conditioning days….I hope Bob is enjoying his cool apartment. Not sure if this will last longer. I hope not. I need to pack and I'm not finding energy to fight this heat and humidity. (38 celcius and a smog alert…)Makes me think about global warming and its TRUE impact. Is global warming a natural cyclical effect or is it a man made catastrophe to worry about? Would the answer to this question make us change our habits? I’m not so sure we would all invest in green mutual funds if we could, knowing it would help global warming.
